Taking a beating! Paul Walker reveals a  bloodied face as he and the cast of Brick Mansions begin filming

Paul Walker was happy to take a beating on Tuesday.

The 39-year-old actor began shooting the film Brick Mansions in Montreal, Quebec, a remake of Luc Besson's acclaimed action flick District B13.

Walker returned from set with fake blood streaming down one cheek beneath his eye and a dazed look on his face.

However, judging by the actions of The Fast and the Furious franchise star, as well as his fellow cast members David Belle and Gouchy Boy, everyone was excited to start shooting.

Belle, the inventor of the worldwide phenomenon Parkour and who had turned 40-years-old the day before the first day of production, returned from set looking much more banged up than Walker, but gave photographers most of a thumbs up, even with one eye swollen closed and gushing fake blood.

The French athlete-turned-action star plays virtually the same role he played in the original film.

Gouchy Boy, a Nigerian Canadian actor who lives in Montreal, embraced Walker when he saw him outside one of the make-up trailers.

The man mountain character actor was later seen wearing a Hawaiian shirt, army pants and a bulletproof vest.

He gleefully flashed a wide smile and peace sign to photographers as he returned from set, unable to mask his excitement.

Like the original District B13, Brick Mansions is about an undercover cop, played by Walker, who is on the search for a weapon of mass destruction hidden in a dangerous ghetto known as Brick Mansions.

While the Varsity Blues star has been a leading man for well over a decade, he has worked in the shadows of bigger name actors that have been cast opposite him.

However, this year could change that trend.

While he'll reprise his leading man role in the upcoming Fast and the Furious 6 franchise - which will most likely lead the box office for a few weeks this summer - Walker will also be starring in the upcoming comedy Pawn Shop Chronicles opposite Elijah Wood and the independent drama Hours, where he plays a man struggling to keep his infant daughter alive in a hospital during Hurricane Katrina.

Yay for David and Paul! I'm optimistic about this one. David Belle deserves so much more credit/attention than he receives, imo.

This week Paul Walker began filming Brick Mansions, the American remake of the Paris-set Banlieue 13, on location in Montreal.

Walker stars in the movie, along with David Belle who starred in the original, which is being directed by Camille Delamarre. Walker plays an undercover detective “chasing a weapon of mass destruction that was stolen by a drug dealer in the ghetto known as Brick Mansions. He seeks help from the incredibly agile Lino (Belle), who knows Brick Mansions better than anyone and is the only person not cowed by the drug dealers.”

Yesterday, one of our Twitter followers, @misterjchan, met Walker, along with his co-tar Gouchy Boy at St Laurent and Sherbrooke in Montreal, where they are filming again today from 7 am-7 pm.

RZA Will Hide A Bomb From Paul Walker In District B13 Remake Brick Mansions

Author: Nick Venable   | published: 2013-05-14 23:33:13

So the Parkour elephant in the room is that remaking Luc Besson’s cool French action flick District B13 does not need to be done. But since it’s happening in the form of director Camille Delamarre’s Brick Mansions, all we can hope for is some flashy balls-out action. And stars Paul Walker and David Belle will need to protect their necks from a newly cast co-star.

The Hollywood Reporter has learned that Wu Tang Clan member RZA will be wearing his acting hat for the EuropaCorp and Relativity Media-produced film. Last year he released his directorial debut The Man With the Iron Fists, which he also wrote, starred in and wrote the music for with Howard Drossin. He also got quite a few laughs for his cameo as Blind Master in G.I. Joe: Retaliation earlier this year. Next up, he’ll be co-starring in Fox’s action drama series Gang Related with Ramon Rodriguez and Terry O’Quinn, which was recently picked up to air at some point later in the year.

In Brick Mansions, RZA will play the powerful drug warlord who is in possession of a neutron bomb inside a dangerous area known as the Brick Mansions (not a coincidence). The bomb is ticking down, and the story is destined to end in certain doom, right? Not if Walker, as an undercover cop, and Belle, as his super-athletic partner, have anything to say about it. Besson adapted his own original screenplay with the help of Robert Mark Kamen and Bibi Naceri. While I doubt they’ll let RZA win, we can dream.

Brick Mansions is currently shooting in Montreal.
